This special breed is loyal, loving, protective, velcro to your every move, playful and athletic. They are versatile in field, obedience and conformation. This highly intelligent breed is known as the “dog with the human brain”; with this intelligence rambunction behavior can be the result. Training is necessary to keep the mind of a Weim calm, and if trained well is one of the best behaved of all dog breeds.

The origins of the Weimaraner are unknown, but it was developed in Weimar Germany, at the Court of the Grand Duke Karl August as a big-game hunting dog for only the nobility. It was later trained as a bird dog and as a water retriever. Being bred for the rich in Germany, these dogs were treated like royalty. They lived inside their master’s home and rested with the master by the fire. Today’s Weimaraners has the very same temperament, they don’t do well in kennels, therefore they are an inside dog and wants to be next to their owners all the time.
